Watchdog unhappy about Twitter’s speed of banned info deletion

MOSCOW, Mar 23 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service finds the rate of Twitter's deletion of banned information unsatisfactory as two thirds of the materials harmful for children are still available, the watchdog said on Tuesday in a statement.

“The communications service informs that after adoption on March 10, 2021 of measures to slow down Twitter’s traffic, the social network started deleting information, but in fact only a third of the content banned in Russia with child pornography, materials calling children to commit suicide, promoting purchase, production, and use of drugs, has been deleted so far,” the authority said.

Twitter could have acknowledged the information as banned and deleted it long ago, which could have spared the Russian Internet user such lengthy harm.

The communications service said it still insists on the entire and quickest deletion of the banned information on Twitter.
